On the Road Again....

I have had a hectic week!  I left last Thursday for my 10 year high school reunion and feel like I have not sat down yet! We had a great time at our reunion and I will post pictures and more about it when things slow down (in June). Friday, May 15, Mom hosted lunch for the Sturdivant women. Grandmom, Aunt Lanie, Kathryn, and Mary Laine were able to come catch up over " lady lunch food". We missed Aunt Cindy, but know she had a great time in LA.

After two late nights reminicing with my high school buddies, Mom and I drove the Excursion and trailer to Birmingham Sunday evening. We packed the house and had movers pack the car and trailer on Monday. Monday night we were able to have dinner with Alice and Alice Broughton. Tuesday we made a Lowes run, researched Babies R Us, and saved some time to shop in the big city, of course. We were also able to spend an hour or so picking out fabric and lace to make Jane some smocked layette dresses and bloomers. They are going to be adorable! I can't wait to start on them, although I still haven't finished knitting the Christmas stocking, patchwork blanket or started on the bird mobile for the crib. So much to do!!

Here is a picture of  the belly and Alice Broughton before dinner in Birmingham.

We pulled into Greenwood Tuesday night at 11pm. I drove the trailer by myself to Natchez at 8:30am Wednesday morning to make it back for lunch. Uncle Cage and Aunt Louise picked up my grandparents, Ewing and Jane, at 7am in Memphis for a trip to Natchez. We arrived at the same time and had lunch at The Castle then toured Hawthorne, Hyde's grandparents' house, and Longwood, an unfinished octaganol house next to Hawthorne. Stella and I took Jane and Ewing to Oak Hill, their B&B then crawled in the bed for a little rest before drinks at 6 and dinner at 7. Thursday morning, they had an amazing brunch at Oak Hill along with a tour of the grounds and house. We toured the Natchez Cemetery, which is amazing and beautiful. For anyone coming to tour, it is a must! We also made sure Grandmother Jane was able to see the Mississippi River before she left. It is actually really high right now (around 53 feet) and sandbags were being filled at the bottom of the bluff on Silver Street.

They drove back to Jackson for Maggie and Charles's high school graduation from St. Andrew's. Tracy and Scott hosted the family at their house beforehand. I hate I had to miss it. They were always so sweet to come to so many of my events in high school and college. Hyde and I got in the car and drove to New Orleans for his flight to Telluride for David Junkins and Lindsey Callon's and bachelor party. Hyde will fly back to New Orleans on monday and then fly to Birmingham Tuesday morning.

Stella and I are leaving again Saturday for Birmingham so we can shop around hang out with Bettye Jane, Charlie, and Brirmingham friends. Monday movers will come and finish packing up everything at the house. Hyde arrives Tuesday (perfect timing huh?) and we close on the house Wednesday at 10am!!!!! We will drive home that afternoon and unload Thursday. Friday we have doctor's appointment and will take the trailer back to Greenwood. Saturday we will be trained to handle Miss Mags and bring her home!!! Saturday night we have Grace and Micajah's first engagement party in Grenada. It should be a great time and I can't wait to see them! They are adorable together and it makes me so happy to see them excited about starting their life together!
