We've got some very exciting news to share - at the end of January, we will be moving to Natchez, Mississippi where Hyde will join his dad's law firm. We've loved our two and half years in Birmingham, but we both knew in our hearts that we are Mississippi folks and that's where we belong. I'm really excited to be so much closer to my family in little ol' Itta Bena. Sadly, Miss Mags will not be making the initial move with us since she left for puppy graduate school a few weeks ago. The stinky chicken will be missed. As for housing, on a tip from Weezie, we read through the obituaries every morning. We'll be sending out our new contact info soon.For those of you that haven't been there, Natchez is a gorgeous historic town that sits high on a bluff overlooking the Louisiana delta - you know how much we love the Delta. It is located in MS's southwest corner about 60 miles south of Vicksburg on Hwy 61. About 30k people live in what Hyde calls the Free State of Adams County of which Natchez is the only municipality. Natchez was founded in 1716 and Hyde has told me about 400 times that Natchez had the most millionaires per capita in the nation prior to the Civil War. I don't bother reminding him that that was over 150 years ago though their homes still stand and are the principal tourist attraction for Natchez. Movie buffs know the Coen brothers filmed their movie The Ladykillers with Tom Hanks there. Some of Natchez's more famous children include novelist Richard Wright, CNN's Campbell Brown, musician Olu Dara , and JD Montgomery, the best dwarf bartender in the Southeast.
