We missed Santa at Dunleith last weekend so we went to the Jefferson Street Methodist Breakfast with Santa. As you can see, Walker did not sitting on Santa's lap and Jane put on a good face even though she didn't want to do it. Thank you Jane. After Walker left, Jane bravely sat on Santa's knee and told him what she wanted, but exited before tears rolled.

Jane's Christmas Program/Grandparent's Day
Cathedral hosted Grandparents' Day on Friday, December 13 where the students performed Christmas songs. Gran Jan, Totty and P were all in attendance and Jane did a great job as "Jane Who" in "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". The parents had coffee and donuts while the PreK3 and PreK4 classes performed together in the big gym. Each little group/song performed for maybe 30 seconds each. Everyone did a great job and it was wonderful!
Jane didn't understand the Grinch's story and why I wanted to make her hair "funny" but we read The Grinch earlier in the week and now she loves the story and allowed me to fix her hair like Cindy Lou Who. Now, she loves the book!

Walker was very proud to point to his sister.

After the performance, everyone went back to the classroom for a class picture. Mrs. Jodi made matted photos and picture button pins for each set of Grandparents. Gran Jan had never seen her classroom so she was able to meet her teachers and get a tour. We also hit up the book fair in the multi purpose room before leaving.

Viral Meningitis
Tuesday, October 22 Hyde complained of not feeling well. We both figured it was because of the weekend (Thursday depositions and Walker throwing up Thursday night, Oxford for the LSU game, weather getting colder, etc). That night he woke up with a splitting headache that would not allow him to go back to sleep. At 6:15am he finally woke me and said he felt like an elephant was sitting on his head and about to split his skull. I texted with Dr. Ed Daly and he said Hyde could come in at 8:45am. We were thinking it was a migraine although Hyde had never had a one before.
Dr. Daly gave Hyde shots of Delaudid and Cortisone along with a subscription for LoraTab to help with the pain. He never got better. Friday, October 25 Hyde checked himself into the E.R. for a CT Scan, which came back negative. Friday afternoon he had a Spinal Tap, but the doctor could not read it until Saturday morning. Hyde spent the night in the hospital with the nurse's guess of Viral Meningitis.
Yep, it was Viral Meningitis! Hyde never gets sick. But when he does, he gets really sick! For instance, the last time he was sick was June of 2012 and he was in the hospital for 5 days for the removal of his gallbladder. Just like when his gallbladder quit, Hyde did not have the typical symptoms of viral meningitis-no fever, etc.
It took 2 weeks for the headaches to stop. Hyde was going crazy having to stay at home and lie in bed all day. He had been waking at 4am to workout and now all the strength he had gained over the past 2 months was gone. He could do minimal work from home too and all he could think about was how far behind he was getting. Philip and Stella were a huge help to me with the kids and driving Hyde to and from doctor appointments. I had a small taste of single parenting and I have complete respect for every single parent!
We are still unsure of the exact virus that caused this but it somehow jumped into the nervous system. And being in the Grove the weekend before with a weak immune system is where we concluded he got the virus. Everyone is glad to see Hyde feeling better with Hyde being the most excited about a full recovery!

Visit with Great Grandmother Jane
Jane, Walker and I traveled to Memphis Sunday, October 20 after the Ole Miss v. LSU game in Oxford. We met Gran Jan in Batesville and rode north together. Grandmother Jane is staying in Allen Morgan of Trezevant Manor after her fall and fractured hip so we stayed in her apartment. Great Grandmother Jane was thrilled to see us, but as you can see, Jane was not in the best of moods.
Needless to say, I could not get Jane to take a picture with her namesake. Walker kept himself entertained with his red car.
We spent the night in Memphis and were able to visit with Great Grandmother Jane until after lunch on Monday, October 21. It's a long way from Memphis to Natchez :(
