Let It Snow!

Natchez got dumped with snow on Thursday, February 12. We couldn't believe how much snow we got and had a great time building Jane her own snowman.

The Booger Bear

The "Booger Bear" has caught a cold! She had too much fun at her first Mardi Gras in Lafayette. 4 parades and lots of beads, food and fun!!
These days Jane wants to sit up by herself. If you put her in a reclining position, she has figured out to stick her elbows out so she doesn't recline. I think this is one reason she hates the carseat. She also likes sitting by herself in her Boppy. Yesterday, February 17,  she was on the bed and fell forward onto her tummy then figured out how to roll over!! She finally did it! I was very proud of her. She also wants to be held at all times and throws a fit until she is picked up. This includes naps therefore we are still not getting any sleep....On the flip side, we hope to move into our new house in 2 weeks and she will have her own room and will be in her crib for the first time. Hopefully, she will want to love her new room and want to stay in it all night!

Jane's Baptism: February 7, 2010

Jane was baptized at the First Presbyterian Church in Greenwood, MS on February 7, 2010. Jane had 31 family members and close friends witness the sacrament of God's grace as well as join us for lunch afterwards. Thank you to everyone that came and were there in spirit. It was a very special occasion and we appreciate your being there.

This gown has been in the Sturdivant family for years. Micajah, Kathryn, Walker, Susanne, Carson, Neal and I were all baptized in it. It is pictured with the matching bonnet, a cross given to Jane by the Cage Carruthers family, and a personalized Bible given to Jane by her great-grandparents, Ewing and Jane Carruthers.

My initials at the bottom of the gown.

Dr. Rusty Douglas led the service. Jane's grandparents, Jan and Mike Sturdivant, served as Elders and Jane's Godparents, Anastasia and Dunbar Jenkins, served as sponsors.

For anyone that wants to watch the blessed event....

More pics of the Jane Pie

Jane is almost 5 months and is a delight to be around. She has discovered she can get her toes in her mouth and wants to sit up, but needs some assistance. She loves oatmeal, rice cereal, apples (fuji of course), bananas, sweet potatoes, acorn squash and avocados. Tonight she is going to her first parade, the Krewe of Phoenix Mardi Gras Parade.

Jane wants to give a shout out to her cousin Kathryn. February 4 was Kathryn's 1 Month Birthday!!

New Posts

I know I am so behind on posts. I constantly write them in my head, but never get around to writing them. I appreciate that friends follow the blog and know that I am behind. One thing I would like to note is that sometimes I post, but date them so they show up chronologically. So although I may post in January, it may be in the December file. I am trying to keep everything in order so I can record everything as if I was writing a journal and eventually "blurb" it. So, I am not sure how it shows up when you come to Cowlick Nation, but if you have time, check out past blogs. Thanks again for visiting!

Jane's Blog

January 10 marked my 4 month birthday and I have been very busy. I weighed 14 pounds, 14 ounces and measured 24" at my checkup. They gave me a shot in each thigh (ouch! but mommy did much better this time with the tears). I was also given the go ahead to try solid foods. I can eat veggie and fruits now! So far, I have tried rice cereal, oatmeal, sweet potatoes, bananas, apples, and acorn squash. I have only made a few funny faces, but I am a good eater! Here are some pics of my first time trying sweet potatoes.

Mommy's friend Alice Broughton Cox came to visit us. She and mommy talked so much I couldn't get a word in. We traveled to Bogue Chitto (crazy huh?) to look at fabric. I was amazed at how much fabric they had and mommy let me touch all of it. I like to feel the different textures and rub my fingernails across them to hear what sound it makes. And all the colors were amazing. Thanks for coming ABC and come back soon!!

Ann Tillman, Becky Jex, Hannah Mason, Helen Smith and Shirley Petkovesek hosted a Sip and See for me in Natchez on January 10. It was freezing outside and I appreciate all the lovely ladies that came out to meet me. It was a very nice party and I got to wear a party hat!
