Walker started rice cereal on Wednesday, August 29. We were all home preparing for Hurricane Issac and fed him 1 tsp rice to 4 tsp milk. He did a good job of eating off the spoon and not wasting much.
Thursday, August 30, Walker had rice cereal for breakfast (1 Tbsp cereal, 3.5 Tbsp milk) and for dinner. I've been trying to keep a log of Walker's eating and sleeping habits so I can figure out his schedule and I've tried to stay consistant at bedtime with a bath, which he LOVES, bottle, then swaddle him for bed (he prefers the swaddle over a sack since the startle reflex wakes him up). Thursday night he went down at 9:15 and woke up at 5:30! That's 8 hours!! My memory is so bad that I had to really think if I had woken before then, but I hadn't! After nursing him for 10 minutes, he slept until 7:30am. I hope this rice cereal is what is helping him sleep and works like this every night!
Friday, August 31 I woke so excited about Walker's 8 hour sleep stretch. We went over to Philip and Stella's for Jane to play with cousin Kathryn (Krafrin as Jane says) and Walker to play with cousin Philip. They came to town Thursday because their power was out in Baton Rouge then their generator quit. Mollie and I were watching the kids in the mud room and I had put walker on an activity mat for some tummy time. I looked back at him and he was on his back. Wait a second... We missed the first roll over. I put him back on his tummy and this time Rose and I saw it. I reached for my video camera and he wouldn't roll over. Go figure.. So, when Hyde came home for lunch, we tried it again with the camera and he did it! Here is the video:

Blessing the Backpacks
Today was Rally Day at church. Here is a picture of The Blessing of The Backpacks after breakfast and before Sunday School. Jane has a Sunday School class now led by Lynn Britt, her swim coach, and Hal and Brenda Hicks. (Hyde is by the window holding Jane)

Wow!
I haven't blogged in FOREVER!!! I am so behind, but my excuse is that we have a LOT going on!
I wanted to note a few things about my day yesterday and today...
1. Walker only woke up 1 time last night!!!! He slept from 8-2 and 2:10-6:10. We are thrilled! Keep it up Walker!
2. Walker is cutting his 2 bottom teeth!! I've questioned his hands being in his mouth and all the drool and today I saw where the teeth will come through and felt the rough patch. After applying Orajel, his hands don't go in his mouth much at all. I am trying to give him teethers but he hasn't figured out how to get them in his mouth but he is getting better.
3. I've been so wrapped up in packing and unpacking I've been very short with Jane and haven't given her enough play time attention. I took both kids to the playground and played with her until Walker had to be picked up. When we got home, Jane came into my room and thanked me for taking her to the playground. I almost started crying! How sweet is that?! It really made me realize how I've been too absorbed in our move and neglected this precious time with her. We played "the monsters are going to get you" on the bed until DaDa came home (Two weeks ago, Jane started calling Hyde DaDa instead of Daddy. She commented that was how a baby says it. Maybe because she has played a lot with Stella and Eleanor recently. Who knows how long that will stick.)

4. Tonight is our first night to spend the night in our new house! Jane went down easily in her new bunk bed and we are sharing Walker's room with Walker. Our bathroom is not finished and they will sand the sheetrock Monday. We didn't want the dust to get all over our bedroom furniture so we are living in the front of the house until next week. Very exciting! We love the new house and look forward to being unpacked and settled. This has been the longest moving process!

Mid August-Mid Move
The boys left for 4 days on a fishing trip in the Chandalier Islands of Louisiana. Bettye Jane and I hung out with the kids in Natchez. We caught a great video of Walker laughing to Peek a Boo.
When Hyde got back, he was exhausted. They stay up every night and have a too much fun! When he got back one of his first duties was to give Walker his bottle while I unpacked boxes in the new house. This is what I saw when I went to check on them...

Walker or Hyde?
Hyde's baby picture:
When Jane saw this picture, she said, "Look at Walker"
The picture of Walker that I used is not the best to use for the comparison, but Walker looks so much like Hyde!! Walker is always making the face that Hyde is making.
