Jane's 1st Birthday: 09-10-10

Jane's 1st birthday: Gran Jan and Papa Mike drove from the MS Delta for the occasion as well as Aunt Beej and Uncle Chops from the TN Delta. The 1st Presbyterian Church held a Men's Culinary Event at Sherry and Lee Jones's house that night so we all went. Everyone in attendance sang "Happy Birthday" to Jane. She didn't know what to think at first since everyone was looking at her and singing, but by the end of the song, she had a smile on her face-what a ham!
Here are a few pictures snapped from her actual birthday.

Jane's Birthday Hat that Aunt Bettye Jane made her.
"It's my party and I'll cry if I want to"
Who told her this?
Serious tears, but all we could do is laugh and take pictures. Poor thing.
Gran Jan reading Fannie's Hats to Jane. Also included is PigWig, one of my childhood stuffed animals. PigWig made the trip down from the Delta and wore a pearl brooch in honor of the occasion.

The Birthday Sign is a Carby tradition. Hyde has some of the cutest baby pictures of holding his birthday sign. The tradition continues! (Jane was born at 6:01pm)
teething and not wanting to take any more pictures with the sign
Sick of the picture taking....
Much better. (the sign didn't last much longer and neither did she)
We would also like to wish Great Grandfather, Papa Sturdivant, a Happy Birthday!!

Dance Party USA

I just found this video of our last night at the beach with the "Peru Crew". We went to Fort Morgan for Labor Day and had a grand time!
I cry every time I watch this!

August 26-September1

I am so behind on blogging! Jane has changed so much and I hate I have not been documenting everything. Things I have noticed or seen this week...

Jane will be right handed

She has been scooping up food (mostly cottage cheese, her favorite food) with a spoon and getting it in her mouth. A little help is needed still on the scooping though. She will also work on stabbing food with her spork but it ends with her just picking it up.

She gets really excited when she sees Cheerios and loves to reach in the bag.

She LOVES to dance! By the 5th beat of a song, Jane is moving. Her hands conduct, her hips sway, feet are stomping and she will even bob her head. (she performs well to Beyonce "Single Ladies" since she motions her left hand and can sing "uh,uh oh.."). She has a new Meow-sic keyboard that has a microphone, will play tunes or back up beats, sing into the mic or play the notes. She has really enjoyed this-and so have we!(video to come)

Jane has great balance. She will trip or spin around and look like she is about to fall down, but she will catch herself and keep going. I like to think that her balance came from doing yoga with me in the womb.

Her facial expressions have multiplied. She will scrunch her nose and arch her eye brows. She has a distinct upset face, a precious smile and a contagious laugh.

Her hair is really growing and it is still very blonde. We have moved up in our bow size and I love seeing her bed head after a good nap. Her hair will flip out over her ears and the back will stick straight up.

She still loves bathtime-the wind up toys, stacking cups and the floating toys especially.

She loves a purse. She pulls each item out, inspects it, then creates a pile to her side. Once everything has been viewed she starts putting them back.

I am amazed at how Jane can unscrew lip gloss tubes, pull out the wand for inspection then be able to insert the wand back into the tube. That is a small target! She also has an even smaller toy nail polish and she can get the brush into the bottle. I am still looking for a toy to enhance this skill if anyone has any suggestions.

She has really enjoyed her forward facing car seat which means mommy and daddy are happy too!

She is speaking so much more. Bottle (baba and batuh), dog, you (doo), thank you (danku), juice. She has also started signing (after months of just watching me and laughing) to indicate she is finished or all done after a meal or bath.

TuTu Much!

We have broken out Jane's tutu and let's just say she loves it! She was sporting it today and I couldn't help but pull out the camera. Maybe we will pull it out for her birthday party......

Jane Meets West

Jane and West Higginbotom III met for the first time in Mobile, AL on August 14, 2010. West is a month younger than Jane and lives in Marianna, AR with mom and dad, Weezie and West. This is the first of many dates and a long future together. Although they did not share a Sonic Blast this time, I think they had a great time meeting and we look forward to seeing West again soon!!
