New Names

While in Oxford for my yoga certification, Hyde kept Jane for the weekend. On Saturday, March 5, Jane pointed at Philip and said "P" (we refer to him as P), then pointed at DaDa, then Mag (Maggie), then to Stella and said "TaTa" (we refer to her as Totty). WOW!! She's really getting it!

Later during the week, I heard new words:
bead
box
hair
nose
mouth
mik (milk, she brought us her wooden play milk jug)
doll (now will say baby doll)
ox (she has an ox figure since she is in the Year of the Ox in the Chinese New Year

This week has been a little crazy. Monday-Wednesday we were in Lafayette, LA for Mardi Gras. More of that to come...

Interesting thing: today Jane discovered white Tic-Tacs. I let her have one and after making a terrible face and asking her if she liked them, she smiled and nodded a big yes. She loved them. Weird. They are pretty strong. I thought it would be the same reaction as the tiniest taste of toothpaste, but I was wrong.

Today Jane had a temperature averaging 100.5  Jane is rarely sick. She was happy all day, but probably wondering why I canceled our playground trip to see Liam and Amanda Shea. Hopefully tomorrow the fever will be gone and later this weekend we can catch up with them.

Today Hyde and I woke before Jane and were able to have tea and watch the news together. It was so nice! If the tv is on it's usually on PBS or a Disney movie. This morning there was an earthquake near Japan causing a tsunami in Tokyo with 33' waves and water traveling 1 mile on shore. At 8:30, 3'-6' waves hit Hawaii and 11:30 hit California. It is horrible to hear of another natural disaster. My heart goes out everyone in Japan.I pray for all the families to be reunited and for all the people lost. Recovery from this will take years. Here are some before and after pictures of Japan. http://www.abc.net.au/news/events/japan-quake-2011/beforeafter.htm

While Jane napped today, I painted. We are working on a picket fence along the back of our yard across (so Jane doesn't drop off into the bayou).  I was able to finish painting 5- 4x4 posts and one 8' section of fence.

Only 7 more sections to go....

The Before Picture.....

Once complete, I will post a picture of the new backyard. (Hopefully sooner than later!)

Funniest Video (maybe ever)

Summer forwarded this video to me and Hyde and I have not stopped laughing/crying. I had to share it. With the baby being blonde, I can't help but imagine Jane taking over a restaurant.

March 10

March 10 is a significant date in the Carby household. Jane is officially 18 months old and we have lived in our new house for 1 year! Woohoo!

Mardi Gras 2011

Mardi Gras was held on March 8 this year and we celebrated in Lafayette, LA with Kate, Will, Elle and Liam Rountree, Katherine and Lindsey Callon, and Kate Foley (along with more Lafayette friends and 1000s more).
The weather was kind of nasty but it didn't stop the parades or the fun. Many beads, balls, and toys were caught! By the 3rd and last parade, Jane got the hang of things and really waved at the floats. She loved wearing the beads (also said "bead" every time we added another to her neck) and hugged the animals thrown to her.

The number of beads must have been too heavy so this is Jane's attempt to take some off.

Just a warning of the videos. Some may be really boring unless you are blood related, and even then. Just wanted to document Mardi Gras and where Jane spent most of the afternoon.

Slip Sliding Away

Jane loves to slide! We walk down the alley to the Harrisons and play on their play set. Jane prefers walking, with assistance of course, up the slide then sitting down by herself and sliding to the bottom. After getting comfortable sliding holding my hand, she will go down by herself. Yesterday she discovered gong down on her belly(feet first)and had a ball.
