Easter 2013
Easter Service
I spent all week sewing these outfits for Easter. I procrastinated for 2 months thinking, "I still have time"but last weekend I finally realized that I had 1 week to work on both of their outfits! I finished Walker's on Wednesday and Jane's at 3:30 pm on Saturday. Nothing like a Tim Gunn "make it work" moment. I have to admit I am proud of myself. The patterns are from the 80s and not the typical pattern instructions (no pictures) and I had to learn how to gather the lace and stitch it to the entredeaux then attach it to the fabric. If you are interested in learning what entredeaux is check out this website http://oldfashionedbaby.blogspot.com/2010/08/entredeux-to-fabric-old-fashioned.html
I also hand embroidered Jane's square collar on the front and back. They looked precious!
Walker trying to show off his important thighs/
Jane with Webb Ratcliffe after church. They would not pose together.
Trying to get a cousin shot.
Catherine Lucas, Jane, Kathryn Carby, Walker. Stella was not having the photo session and Philip was napping.
Jane wanted to hold her little brother for the photo shoot.
Walker found one egg during the egg hunt. He wasn't interested in hunting for more (not the Sturdivant gene)
Hyde found the $70 adult egg!

Easter pics
The outfits I made for Jane and Walker for Easter. I learned how to sew entredeux and lace all by myself. I am very proud of these outfits and think they are "sew" sweet!! (I had to do it)

Prepping for Summer
Jane and I went through her bathing suits from last summer to see if
any still fit (which they all do), but the last one we tried on was a
new one. All of the Peru Crew girls will match at the beach. Jane
loved it needless to say and wore if for the next hour and a half
around the house. She proceeded to get out a towel and pretend she was
at the beach. After "sunning" she created a picnic from her play
kitchen. It was really cute, but the most memorable moment from these
2 hours was what she said after going to look at herself in the
mirror. She came back into her room, paused, put one hand on her hip
and said "Mom, I look ter-riffic!"

Walker is 10 months old!
What a cutie patootie!!
Poor thing: on his 10 month birthday, he had to visit the doctor. His temperature had risen to 103.5 in the middle of the night. He was congested, lethargic and not himself. His blood count was high and he had to get an antibiotic shot in his right thigh. His throat and ears were red so he started Amoxicillin for his ears. We returned for a checkup the next day and his blood count was better, the fever was gone, and his left ear was indeed infected. I thought his 3rd tooth would be cutting through any day now, but still nothing. He is doing much better now.

Closet Organization
My good friend, Alice Broughton Cox, came down to Natchez to help me with a huge project-cleaning out my closet! She is amazing and I highly recommend hiring her to help clean out/organize/update your closet! She was here for 3 days (kids and visiting included)
Day 1: try on every piece of clothing keeping in mine our options: a. keep b. keep to alter c. donate d. throw away e. replace. I came across some pants that ABC had seen me wear in the 10th grade-yes, the 10th grade. After much laughter, we figured out that these BCBG pants are older than how old I was when I bought the pants. HA! I remember buying them in Scottsdale, AZ when my family stayed at the Biltmore for Christmas 1996. We had to take a picture to document the goodbye-I would also like to point out that I could still fit in them-10th grade people!!
Day 2: Replace and add to the closet. ABC brought items, we got online, and we even found some great things at the Natchez Mall.
Day 3: Organize my closet. I have to note that since we moved in August, I was living out of rubbermaid bins and shoes were in a pile. You can see why I hated going to my closet to get dressed. She grouped items, turned all hangers in the same direction, lined up all my shoes, jewelry, scarves and belts, etc. Seriously, without her I would still be looking in bins for clothes and wearing things that didn't fit (remember all the different sizes that would be in my closet from pregnancy, post pregnancy, etc). I also had clothes in drawers by my bed, another dresser and in my closet. Now I can walk in my closet and leave completely dressed instead of walking all over my room for different parts to my outfit.
Now, I am excited about going in my closet (and I can actually get IN my closet). I can't believe I didn't take a before and after picture! I am trying to encourage ABC to create a business, I call it Cox Closets, and help others. She will even send me texts to this day of where I can get what and the sale, etc. She is an amazing friend to come help me. Thank you Thank you Alice Broughton!
(Now if I could get her to come back to work on Hyde's closet-he has more clothes and for sure shoes than me)
