Tuesday, October 22 Hyde complained of not feeling well. We both figured it was because of the weekend (Thursday depositions and Walker throwing up Thursday night, Oxford for the LSU game, weather getting colder, etc). That night he woke up with a splitting headache that would not allow him to go back to sleep. At 6:15am he finally woke me and said he felt like an elephant was sitting on his head and about to split his skull. I texted with Dr. Ed Daly and he said Hyde could come in at 8:45am. We were thinking it was a migraine although Hyde had never had a one before.
Dr. Daly gave Hyde shots of Delaudid and Cortisone along with a subscription for LoraTab to help with the pain. He never got better. Friday, October 25 Hyde checked himself into the E.R. for a CT Scan, which came back negative. Friday afternoon he had a Spinal Tap, but the doctor could not read it until Saturday morning. Hyde spent the night in the hospital with the nurse's guess of Viral Meningitis.
Yep, it was Viral Meningitis! Hyde never gets sick. But when he does, he gets really sick! For instance, the last time he was sick was June of 2012 and he was in the hospital for 5 days for the removal of his gallbladder. Just like when his gallbladder quit, Hyde did not have the typical symptoms of viral meningitis-no fever, etc.
It took 2 weeks for the headaches to stop. Hyde was going crazy having to stay at home and lie in bed all day. He had been waking at 4am to workout and now all the strength he had gained over the past 2 months was gone. He could do minimal work from home too and all he could think about was how far behind he was getting. Philip and Stella were a huge help to me with the kids and driving Hyde to and from doctor appointments. I had a small taste of single parenting and I have complete respect for every single parent!
We are still unsure of the exact virus that caused this but it somehow jumped into the nervous system. And being in the Grove the weekend before with a weak immune system is where we concluded he got the virus. Everyone is glad to see Hyde feeling better with Hyde being the most excited about a full recovery!

Visit with Great Grandmother Jane
Jane, Walker and I traveled to Memphis Sunday, October 20 after the Ole Miss v. LSU game in Oxford. We met Gran Jan in Batesville and rode north together. Grandmother Jane is staying in Allen Morgan of Trezevant Manor after her fall and fractured hip so we stayed in her apartment. Great Grandmother Jane was thrilled to see us, but as you can see, Jane was not in the best of moods.
Needless to say, I could not get Jane to take a picture with her namesake. Walker kept himself entertained with his red car.
We spent the night in Memphis and were able to visit with Great Grandmother Jane until after lunch on Monday, October 21. It's a long way from Memphis to Natchez :(

Walker: September Update
I have not blogged in FOREVER and so much has been happening and changing! Here goes:
Walker:
-Talking more and definitely communicating! Signs "eat" and "more"
-Says: eat, mik (milk), mama, dada, book, baa (bath), boon (balloon), ba (ball), poe poe (poo poo), moo and uh oh.
-Claps and says "yay!"
-His teacher said after reviewing numbers 1-5 he said one and held up one finger. 8.19.13
-Loves to dance as soon as he hears a beat, especially in his car seat and to Beyonce's Single Ladies.
-Climbs up everything. I leaned a 6 foot ladder against the wall, turned around for 30 seconds and he was on the 3rd from top rung! My heart was racing!! He can also climb the ladder on the play set then come down the slide all by himself.
-This month he has cut 3 molars!!! His top right was first, then the top left, then a few days later came the bottom right. The bottom left has been in for about a month.
-Walker got his flu shot on 9.13.13.
-At school, Mrs. Chandra King is his teacher. Mrs. Cherish comes for music on Tuesdays. He is learning to go to sleep on his (adorable navy seersucker with red monogrammed Walker) nap mat. Mrs King loves her students and really engages them, singing and dancing and repeating rhymes with them. Thy go to he playground each morning.
-He's been on a hunger strike this month with his molars coming in. Its mostly been a liquid diet month.
-If you give him an 8oz sippy cup, he will down it! Therefore we call him the "tee tee monster". So if you combine and the above bullet with this one, you can understand his new nickname.
-He is starting to hold our hands more. It's so sweet! He will come grab our hand to lead us to what he wants or to join him in running laps in the house. But he will also hold my hand now when walking down the street. I love this!
-We go to Storytime together at the library on Monday mornings at 10am. He is starting to learn Patty Cake (sometimes claps), Twinkle Twinkle (puts his pointer fingers together learning to make the diamond), and Happy If You Know It (claps and says hooray with his arm going up).
-He loves to growl and say "yaaaaaaaah" and show his teeth. Sometimes he'll lift his chin, close his eyes, and scrunch his nose showing off his bottom teeth.
-I think he has an underbite and might be left handed. I know it's early but he uses his left a lot! Throws the ball and uses his utensils with his left. He loves using a utensil.
-Loves to be outside and swing.
-When he runs, his hips swivel and it look like he swings his legs around instead of picking them up. He also has a great skip which we call "prancercising" after a YouTube video of a woman showing how to prance for exercise.
-He is wearing 24 month clothes and a size 5 shoe. He is thinning out and lengthening. On 9.13.13, he weighed 27 pounds and was 31" tall. According to our height wall, he has grown 5" in a year.
He is a very happy, laid back, cotton top little boy!

Long Last Farm
We had a great time at Gran Jan's 60th Birthday last night but now the kiddos can play together and head out to the barn with Gran Jan! Eleanor, the proud big sister, was happy to show her cousins Garnett, who is just 8 weeks old!

Jane's Princess 4th Birthday Party
Jane celebrated her 4th Birthday on Sunday, September 8 with a Princess Party. We had a great crowd with friends and family and even a special appearance by Belle and Rapunzel! It's hard to believe my little girl is already 4! She certainly has brought us joy and some hard times-she has a lot of spunk and she is strong willed! I just pray that she directs that energy in a positive direction. We love you Jane for being yourself!
