Move Your Head

Jane is very attentive and persistent. When you are something gets in the way of what she wants to see, she really works on looking around it. We laugh whenever she does it and Hyde was able to catch it on video. I laugh every time I watch it....

Jane's Wave

Last week Jane started showing us her wave. Since the day she was born, Jane has been expressive with her hands and we think she will do something with her beautiful hands. She loves to conduct as she drinks her bottle and wave to adoring fans (the tourists love it) as well as her adoring staff (aka family members). Hyde was able to catch just a second of her waving, but we will work on getting more footage. My favorite part about this video (other than the wave of course) is the looks Jane gives Hyde as if she was saying "Okay, I have waved for your, what now?" Aunt Grace, she may need a few more pointers in perfecting her wave.

Jane's 1st Dip in the Pool

Spring has finally decided to stay in Natchez as we have had several warm days in a row and the azaleas have finally bloomed. Today we had a playdate with several Natchez babies and we decided to take our first dip in the pool. Becky and Julia Claire Jex swam with us. I have a feeling there will be many more pool appearances in the future months!

Who needs sleep??

Still not sleeping though the night...... We are trying some new sleep methods and they are working out well for everyone so far! Still not sleeping all night, but it is much easier to get her down and naps are much longer. The answer....sleepy time on the tummy!

Jane and Max

Max Mason and Jane are long time buddies. They met up at Fat Mammas for their parents to have a margarita since it was so pretty outside. Is spring ever going to come and stay? I thought these pictures were cute of the two of them. We are so sad that Max has moved to Pennsylvania, but are excited about the thought of a pen pal and future visits.

March Madness, Part I

Wow! What a month!! And no, I am not talking basketball. This month has been crazy around here. I am going to attempt to catch up on blogging.
Natchez Pilgrimage started March 6 and Jane and I have been receiving (helping give the tour) at Hawthorne, Hyde's grandparents' house, and The Elms, Esther Carpenter's home and B&B. I get dressed up in my hoop skirt and belle dress and visit with the tourists. Afterwards, bloody marys are served while we discuss all the tourists and guess how many toured that day then have a delicious hot lunch that normally sends me into a coma for the rest of the day.

Uncle Micajah had some meeting in south Mississippi on Monday, March 1 and came to stay with us in Natchez. We loved seeing him and Jane adored sitting in his lap and showing off all her new tricks. He had to leave Tuesday morning after seeing the new house. Thanks for coming to visit us Micajah! Please come back any time, but bring cute Grace with you! We also found out that Aunt Grace's sister, Meredith, is expecting TWINS in September!! Wow! What fun news! Congrats to Meredith and Bruce!

Jane reached her 6 month mark. Yes, we did have a little half birthday party for her with cupcakes and party hats. (Pics to come) The party ended when I accidentally popped her cheek with the elastic from the party hat. It was horrible! I was being so careful and got so close then it slipped. No one moved for about 10 seconds then Jane decided that it really hurt and the screaming and tears started. Let's hope no other birthday parties end like this one. Good thing this was just a trial run.....

Jane had her 6 month checkup on the 23rd. Her stats:
Weight: 17lb 6oz (with her diaper...average)
Length: 24.5" (average)
Head circumference: 17.25" (above average)
She had to get 3 shots in her thighs and 1 vaccine orally. She took a long afternoon nap, but was not feeling well that night.
She is doing great with solid foods. I am trying to make her food and so far so good. She has had butternut and acorn squash, carrots, sweet potatoes, apples, pears, bananas, nectarines, and avocado. Oatmeal is with every meal. Jane is still not sleeping through the night., but we are working on that.... Around the 22nd, Jane started babbling. She says bababababababa and squeals with delight. She loves to have tickle sessions and to dance. Both of these activities end in uncontrollable laughter. It is the best sound and makes us smile from ear to ear. Another new trick up Jane's sleeve is her wave. It is adorable and it will melt your heart.

WE MOVED INTO OUR HOUSE!! We moved in on Wednesday, March 10.

Jane's first time in her crib. I think she likes it!

Courtney and Philip Bridwell along with Abe Froman came to visit March 12-14. Jane loved meeting our Birmingham-now Dallas- friends and Miss Mags loved running around with Mr. Froman. They were so sweet to drive over to come stay with us! Friday night, we had a great dinner at The Castle with Katherine and Lindsey Callon. Saturday included lunch at The Mammie (although they ran out of blueberry lemonade and caramel banana pie right when we sat down) and strolled around downtown stopping in at Fat Mammas for a Knock You Naked Margarita.

Wow, and all of this is before March 15th!
